Medical Center Upgrades

Queen Beatrix Medical Center upgrades the medical care

The staff of the Queen Beatrix Medical Center (QBMC) has been expanded with the addition of

Mrs Chantal Hartman, physiotherapist and Dr Eveline Vierhout, general practitioner.

Mrs Hartman has 3 years of experience as a therapist and is passionate about performing her duties.

The department of physiotherapy at the QBMC, is new to the island and the focus is placed not only

on giving the best care possible to the patients referred by the doctors but also starting programs

geared towards improving healthy living through physical exercise, in collaboration with a dietician.

Focus is also placed on new techniques in the field of physiotherapy in order to offer better

treatment options on island.

Dr Vierhout brings 6 years of experience as a general practitioner, to the QBMC.

Besides assisting in upgrading the medical care on the island, to working in accordance with

the NHG standards in the Netherlands, dr Vierhout is also certified in

ATLS (advanced trauma life support) and performing ultrasound examinations.

She is very motivated to be part of the improvements at the QBMC. Mr Gerard Berkel,

director of the QBMC, is very pleased with the addition of these 2 health care professionals.

As plans are being finalized to start specialized clinics for patients with a chronic illness,

like diabetes, there is a very important role for Mrs Hartman and dr Vierhout to fulfill.

Mr Berkel stated, that the extra focus that will be placed on chronic illnesses will help to

prevent the occurrence of complications and the re-occurrence of exacerbation in the future
